SECRET AVENGERS #6 INTRODUCES A NEW MEMBER TO THE TEAM
Have you been enjoying Secret Avengers? It’s Ed Brubaker (Criminal, Captain America) doing a team-up/Avengers book, essentially taking a Steve Rogers: Director Of S.H.I.E.L.D type role.
The team recently got back from Mars after their first, rather disastrous mission, has forced some changes within the team. Nova is out which leads the way for a newbie. At the end of issue #4 Sharon and Steve were searching for a new cosmic level character, and while it doesn’t look like they’ve found what they were looking for, they have found a master of something far more interesting.
The master of Kung Fu – Shang Chi.
As of issue #6 Shang Chi (most recenty a Hero For Hire) will be joining Steve and co as they “travel to the darkest corner of the Marvel U” to stop an uprising of evil… all this with the Shadow Empire still on theirs tales? Looks to be an exciting start to the second arc, issue #5 was the best of the series yet, highlighting a switch from the goofy action of the first arc to a more mystery/thriller based feel that Criminal or Sleeper would carry.
One thing’s for certain; Shang Chi recently was disgraced by possessed Matt Murdock in Shadowland, and while the master of Kung-Fu was tempted to relinquish his title, he quite quickly was convinced to keep it… he’s out to prove himself to the world – and well, joining the worlds toughest covert ops team seems like just the right thing to do.
With him on the team and this teaser art highlighting some crazy fights, I’m crossing all of my fingers and hoping we get some mental Ong-Bak action on the go!
