GEARS OF WAR 3 DELAYED

Hey Gears fans – were you looking forward to chainsawing some mutant bastards up come Spring 2011? Well sorry, I got some bad news… due to the high amount of games being released in Spring, Microsoft has elected to move the title as a flagship winter release.

Sucks right?

Here is what a Microsoft spokesperson has to say,

“Gears of War 3 promises to be the biggest entertainment launch of 2011,” they like to point out the obvious, but still he had more to say, “The teams at Microsoft Game Studios and Epic Games have done great work thus far readying the title for release in the Spring of 2011.
“However, we’ve elected to move the launch of Gears of War 3 until Fall 2011 to make it the marquee title for the holiday season.”
There you have it guys, delayed. Saying that though tomorrow I will be hands on with the title, so come back her early in the week for a preview!

That absolutely does not suck. They are totally right in waiting because of the loads of games being released. I hate it when there are about a dozen great games I want to play that are all released in the same month or season. This is a great idea in my opinion. Gives me time to finish up some other games before I dig into Gears 3. It’s gonna be awesome!

On the flip side of that though – there will always be 3 times more games released during the winter. Since September has started there has been at a minimum of two games, that I would like to either play or buy. As such that means I am having to miss over half of the games released this fall because quite simply I don’t have the time or money – I probs won’t ever get a chance to play them, i’ll forget about them and just keep buying the newer stuff.

For example I still haven’t owned/completed Fable II and Gears 2.

If it had gone Spring release it would have rocked. It would have gone up against a few games sure, spring is the new hot spot – but it would have gone up against less competition AND even if I had missed it in spring I would have gotten it in the summer low release point. Now it will probs be forgotten amongst the tidal wave of other more amazing/original games coming out at winter 2011
